12 Apr The importance of hygiene in sports
We refer to the care that the athlete must take on his body so as not to harm his sports performance. It is about creating healthy habits that prevent problems and imbalances:
- In this sense we can talk about: the shower after each training although we carry out double sessions; bring the right equipment for the sport activity taking into account the surface where it is practiced, the temperature and humidity of the environment, the demands of the competition, etc .
- Oral care, carrying out a periodic dental check to avoid cavities, as these can cause muscle injuries.
- Take care of badly cut toenails, taking care of hardness, blisters and other problems that may appear on the feet and if they exist, go to the corresponding staff (podiatrist) to treat us if necessary.
- Caring for injuries over time and with the appropriate personnel, as well as being subjected to a global assessment by a professional, in terms of performing a complete analysis and a performance test in effort to ensure that we do not present any problem or setback for sports practice.
To bring good hygiene and healthy habits that favor the athlete’s participation and sports performance, it is necessary to establish order and a good and demanding organization on the part of the athlete: Have a time schedule to feed and rest, for your care, for your leisure time controlled and adjusted, for your workouts and customs before the competition, etc. All these aspects will positively influence the athlete’s training.
